
Social Media Manager

The Social Media Manager is responsible for maintaining Labor's online social media channels in support of the National Secretariat's digital strategy. Additionally, the Social Media Manager collaborates with Federal Government parliamentary advisors on materials and posts. The role creates and delivers innovative online content to support day-to-day publishing, campaigns, and supporter engagement.
Responsibilities- Assist in the development, implementation, and management of our social media strategy
- Develop and source online materials including graphics and video content for the ALP's social channels
- Assist with digital campaigning tasks as necessary, including email campaigning, training parliamentary employees and staff regarding social media best practices
- Creating materials for social media advertising
- Meet the ALP social media KPIs for posting and continued improvement of reach
- Collaborate with members of Federal government offices on appropriate digital summaries for policy announcements and other content initiatives
- Collaborate with progressive organisation professionals on key campaigning projects
- Digital Insights weekly reporting to a range of stakeholders
- Comply with employment laws and all internal policies including ALP\'s code of conduct, OHS, anti-discrimination, privacy, security, use of ALP IT resources, financial delegations, and record keeping
- 5+ years\' experience in digital campaigning or social media management
- Excellent at creating effective content for social media platforms and understanding of social media best practices
- Ability to skillfully use video editing tools such as CapCut, iMovie, Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premier Pro and graphic design tools
- Experience with digital advertising platforms including Google Ads and Facebook Ads Manager
- Ability to analyse and make conclusions from various data sources
- Experience reporting social media performance and digital insights
- Demonstrated ability to write clearly, thoughtfully and to flexible mediums
- Capacity to exercise judgement, discretion, and initiative within a politically sensitive environment
- Excellent multitasking skills
- Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
- Great interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
- Capacity to work to tight deadlines
- Able to work without close direction and supervision
- Commitment to the values of the ALP
- Ability to use web development languages such as HTML and CSS
This is a full-time appointment based in Canberra or Sydney.
The position is part of the Digital Unit and reports to the Digital Director.
The position will be filled at Exec Level 1 classification $91-110K set out in the ALP National Secretariat Terms and Conditions.
