Senior Medical Practitioner

Overview

Collie Hospital is seeking over 3 experienced Senior Medical Practitioners to join the Emergency Department to meet expanding emergency needs in the South West region. This is a recruitment pool for Permanent Full Time, Permanent Part Time, Fixed Term Full Time, Fixed Term Part Time or Sessional appointments, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

Responsibilities

• Attend to patients in the Emergency Department in Collie, with an opportunity to expand your work to Bunbury Hospital, supported by the WACHS Telehealth Service (ETS).
• Assist hospital staff and local general practitioners in providing after-hours and emergency responses to inpatients.
• Develop advanced skillsets in Anaesthetics, Surgery and/or Emergency Medicine.
• Mentor the next generation of rural medical practitioners with an opportunity to teach and supervise medical students.

About Collie Hospital

Collie Hospital is part of the Wellington Sub District within the WA Country Health Service (WACHS). It provides a 20-bed inpatient facility with a 24/7 upgraded emergency department and a new theatre complex. Bunbury Hospital supports the region with governance links and expanded services. The Rural Clinical School of WA has a site in Collie with medical students pursuing rural medicine.

Eligibility and Other Conditions

• Eligibility to Apply: Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required for permanent positions in the public sector.
• Other Conditions: WA Health may require criminal records screening and integrity checks. Referees may be asked to comment on integrity and ethical behavior.
• Western Australian Working With Children (WWC) Check is required. See WWC guidelines for details.
• Pre-Employment Health Assessment (PEHA) is required; offers are conditional on satisfactory PEHA results.
