Overview

Midwest Direct is seeking a Mail Machine Technician for PM Shift. Midwest Direct was founded in 1982 as a provider of mail presorting operations. The company helps clients with personalization and direct mail services, using equipment that can sort up to 50,000 pieces per hour. The organization also delivers print, mail, and digital messages across channels such as email, Informed Delivery, and online advertising, with an average of over two million messages delivered daily.

Job Duties
  • Troubleshoot production issues at the beginning of each shift to keep equipment running smoothly
  • Set up, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on various lettershop mailroom equipment such as sorters, conveyors, strappers, and wrappers
  • Ensure cleanliness of machine and components using hoses, air guns, solvents, cloths, vacuum or other appliances
  • Disassemble machines and remove parts for replacement or repair
  • Examine or carry out tasks on broken machine parts and identify defective parts or provide recommendations to supervisors on repair requirements
  • Replace, fix or realign machine parts and accessories in line with production specifications
  • Apply adhesives, lubricants or other materials to machines or their parts as well as other equipment per procedures
  • Reassemble machine parts after completing maintenance and repair work
Schedule
  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:30 PM – 5:00 AM
Compensation
  • $40,000 to $50,000 annually based on experience

Qualifications
  • Basic comprehension and understanding of English to follow safety protocols and operational directions
  • Minimum of one year experience in maintaining, repairing, or installing mailing equipment, comparable machinery, or automotive systems
  • Experience trouble-shooting and repairing complex mechanical equipment with at least one year of break/fix mechanical experience; automotive repair experience is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including the ability to troubleshoot equipment problems, set priorities, and work under deadlines
  • Mechanical and electrical ability; basic Microsoft Windows or Linux skills; willingness to learn, follow directions, and be a self-starter. Training available for the right candidate
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with or without accommodations
  • Ability to walk, stand, stoop, and bend 80% of the time with or without accommodations
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

Note: Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
