About The OrganisationVACCA is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal community. It is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia, committed to providing support, service and advocacy for children and other vulnerable members of the community.
About The RoleThis role is dedicated to advocating for and supporting Aboriginal women and their children affected by family violence. Through the Family Violence Program, a comprehensive range of support services is offered, including short-, medium-, and long-term case management tailored to individual needs.
About YouThis role involves providing culturally and trauma-informed support to Aboriginal women and children impacted by family violence. Responsibilities include receiving referrals, conducting initial assessments using MARAM frameworks, and developing safety and care plans. The role delivers wraparound case management, mentoring, psychoeducation on family violence, parenting, and healthy relationships. It involves advocacy, referrals to relevant services, assistance with legal processes and flexible support packages, and ongoing engagement in safe environments. Administrative duties include data entry, case documentation, and court support. The role requires building partnerships with service providers and contributing to regional networks addressing family violence.
Requirements- A bachelor's degree in social work (or equivalent) or willingness to work toward the qualification in line with mandatory minimum qualifications policy, with significant lived experience relevant to the work
- Valid Police Check, Working with Children's Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain), and a Victorian Driver Licence
- Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
