Overview

Case Worker - Starting Out at Uniting Vic.Tas. Permanent Full Time, Full Time Ongoing role based in Croydon, VIC. Closing on: Sep 26 2025.

Our Starting Out program supports young people under 25 who are pregnant or parenting and experiencing complex issues affecting parenting, family life and children's wellbeing. The program responds to referrals from The Orange Door and supports clients to enhance parenting capacity through assertive outreach and group work.

Responsibilities
  • Engage with reluctant young families using a creative approach.
  • Build rapport to carry out strengths and risk assessments in the client's home or community.
  • Support families to establish and achieve identified parenting goals.
  • Build parenting skills, confidence and knowledge to support children's safety and wellbeing.
  • Support young people to parent to the best of their ability.
Qualifications
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in a field related to social work or psychology.
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing risk to babies, children and young people.
  • Sound understanding of the Best Interests Case Practice Model and Children, Youth and Families Act 2005.
  • Knowledge of age, stage and development (birth – 5 years).
  • Proven ability to plan and implement innovative strategies to engage reluctant young families.
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills.
