Overview

This state gov department is looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join their SEQ Capital Works team, supporting a range of exciting building construction and upgrade projects across South East Queensland. If you thrive in a dynamic client-side project environment and have a background in construction project management, we want to hear from you

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage building construction/upgrade projects from planning to completion.
  • Prepare and implement project management plans and assess delivery options.
  • Coordinate risk management, procurement strategies, value engineering, and lifecycle considerations.
  • Engage and manage consultants and contractors, ensuring compliance with project briefs, statutory requirements, and value-for-money outcomes.
  • Prepare tenders (traditional and design & construct) in line with Australian Standards.
  • Oversee commissioning, handover, and the defect liability period.
  • Maintain clear project documentation, reporting, and performance tracking.
Successful candidate
  • Proven experience in client-side project management for building construction/upgrade projects.
  • Strong knowledge of contract administration, including the role of Principal's Representative and Contract Superintendent.
  • Qualifications in building construction or a related discipline.
  • Sound understanding of contract law, industry standards, and stakeholder responsibilities.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparing project reports and stakeholder updates.
  • Confidence working within government policies, WHS standards, delegations, and financial procedures.
  • Experience in government or large infrastructure organizations.
  • Familiarity with project profitability, fee proposals, and maintaining auditable records.
  • A mindset focused on improving business systems and processes.
