Environmental Scientist

Environmental Scientist role with Jacobs in Sydney, Australia. The position is within the Contaminated Land Assessment and Remediation Section and involves field sampling programs, contamination assessment report writing and supporting business development activities.

• Planning and execution of field sampling programs involving sampling of soils, sediments, surface water and groundwater
• Collation, analysis and interpretation of laboratory analytical results and other environmental data, including comparison against defined assessment criteria
• Preparation of contamination assessment reports with support from relevant team members, requiring research and review of technical / scientific documents
• Assist with the preparation of proposal documents and other business development activities
• Collaborating with other Sections to help deliver successful project outcomes for our clients
• Communicate capacity and actively seeks out work from colleagues

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Geology, Earth Sciences or with extensive years of professional or consultancy experience for an equivalent qualification
• Work experience in consulting is advantageous, particularly within the field of contaminated land assessment, or having had any prior involvement in preparing technical reports
• An appreciation of other environmental consultancy disciplines e.g., ecology, hydrogeology, hydrology, soil science, and cultural heritage would be advantageous
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and familiarity with videoconferencing practices
• Strong attention to detail and an appetite to learn and develop technical skills relevant to contaminated land assessment
