Executive General Manager Communications and Stakeholder Engagement

Lead the delivery of GIICA's communications, media and stakeholder engagement functions. Advise the CEO, Board and executive team as a strategic partner across all engagement and communication matters. Develop future-focused strategies that build public trust and community support for Brisbane 2032 venues. Collaborate closely with the Delivery team to ensure alignment and success across all venue projects. Cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with Games partners and all levels of government to protect and enhance GIICA's reputation.

About the Authority

The Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) is shaping the future of Queensland through the delivery of 17 new and upgraded venues for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. About your Responsibilities

Oversee strategic and operational plans across engagement, communications, media and digital, aligned with Brisbane 2032 partners.

Lead a high-performing team, fostering creativity, collaboration and resilience.

Advise the CEO, Board and executive team on stakeholder strategy and reputational matters.

Manage emerging media and stakeholder issues with agility and foresight.

Strengthen public confidence through transparent, ethical and inclusive engagement.

Build collaborative relationships with Games Delivery Partners, government, industry and community stakeholders.

Engage respectfully with Indigenous communities, ensuring culturally appropriate consultation.

Coordinate communications between GIICA, government and the Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee.

Oversee supplier contracts, budget and external engagement opportunities.

Represent GIICA across committees, interest groups and strategic forums.

Drive public awareness and preparedness ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Games.

Ensure disciplined budget oversight and strategic resource management.

Promote a safe, inclusive and compliant workplace culture.

About You

Bring deep experience leading strategic communications and stakeholder engagement in infrastructure or government, with a track record of managing sensitive issues and earning public trust.

Demonstrate exceptional leadership, empowering high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.

Advise boards, CEOs and senior executives with confidence on communications, engagement and reputational strategy.

Navigate political, community and industry networks to drive strategic outcomes and build lasting relationships.

Champion respectful, inclusive engagement, particularly with Indigenous communities and priority groups.

Balance strategic oversight with hands-on delivery, including budget management, supplier coordination and media interface.

Lead through ambiguity with resilience and adaptability, evolving strategies to meet changing needs.

Contribute experience in major event or Games infrastructure delivery, with knowledge of Queensland's planning and environmental frameworks (highly desirable).
