ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a fixed term role approximately until October 2027. We are seeking a passionate individual to join our talent team at the Western Jets. The Region Administration and Operations Coordinator (Admin & Ops Coord) will support and assist with the overall operations of an assigned regional talent program to contribute to a well-balanced high-performance environment and a positive, safe and supportive development program culture. The Admin & Ops Coord will assist the Regional Talent Operations Lead (Talent Lead) to plan, manage and lead a talented player pathway program that supports the development and progression of well prepared (physically, emotionally, socially, game play, skills, etc.) young athletes ready for AFL and AFLW football as well as those players that transition into State League and/or community football competitions after their talent pathway experience.

OUR ROLE IN THE TALENT PATHWAY

The Admin & Ops Coord will support the operational and administration aspects of a regional talent pathway program with core objectives to identify, nurture and develop well prepared young athletes for AFL/AFLW and transitions to State League or community football. They will contribute to an environment that is safe, inclusive, supportive, respectful and enjoyable for all involved, including participants from diverse backgrounds.

Key Accountabilities
  • You will support and assist with the operational and administration aspects of the regional talent pathway program, contributing to its objectives and a positive development environment.
  • Assist with weekly planning meetings of the region leadership group.
  • Manage events, functions, player permits, match day logistics, training timetables, venue bookings, equipment and related logistics.
  • Ensure compliance with Safeguarding Children and Young People policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate integration of both girls and boys programs in the region.
  • Support AFL/AFLW Club Next Generation Club Academy activities within the region.
  • Oversee apparel, equipment and consumables management.
  • Contribute to the planning and content of web and social media platforms.
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the Talent Lead.

Core Competencies

  • Degree in related field e.g. sports management or equivalent related experience
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently but also effectively within a team environment
  • Strong organisational skills with the capacity to manage competing priorities
  • Demonstrate initiative and an ability to jump in and assist in a wide range of tasks with a can-do attitude
  • Knowledge of the football industry
  • Current Victorian Driver License and a current Working with Children Check
  • Available to work evenings and weekends within a flexible working environment

Desired

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Victorian Talent Pathway program and/or football in the region
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders
