UGL's New Energy national business unit is experiencing rapid growth, and we need motivated and capable people to join our team. UGL's in-house engineering and design capability, together with our strong project delivery and operations and maintenance expertise, positions us well in the market. Our target project opportunities include Solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems, and Wind Projects, as well as Hydrogen and Ammonia projects.

As we continue to deliver and evolve, we are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to join our team.

About the role

The Commercial Manager oversees all the financial aspects of the project from start to finish. They are responsible for ensuring compliance with the client contract and for maximizing project profits.

Your duties and responsibilities
  • During bids, provide regular, clear briefings, analyses and summaries of complex legal, technical, and commercial bid and contract issues for non-specialist audiences and executives.
  • Provide governance oversight of client contracts to ensure compliance and maximize project profitability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage project finances effectively.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support project goals.
  • Monitor and analyze project financial performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Negotiate key supply and works subcontracts and obtain all necessary internal approvals for any derogations from UGL standard subcontract terms in accordance with UGL Procurement Policy.
Your skills and experience
  • Degree in Accounting or Law
  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager in the Renewable (Solar/BESS/Wind), Utilities, or EPC industry
  • Significant strategic commercial experience in a hard dollar or lump sum environment, preferably within large construction and engineering companies
  • Strong understanding of project finance and contract management
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
