Purpose of the role

Youi is an innovative, tech-driven insurer on a cloud and modernisation journey, building solutions that empower our people and customers. As a Software Engineer, you'll work in a collaborative fusion team to design, build, and maintain software that supports Youi's strategic goals. You'll bring a strong focus on quality while balancing pragmatism and continuous improvement to deliver real value.

Key priorities

  • Collaborate with teams and stakeholders to design and deliver effective business solutions.
  • Build high-quality, testable, and performance-driven software aligned to business and tech goals.
  • Work across the full stack with technologies such as C#, .Net, JavaScript, Angular, Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, and UniVerse Basic.
  • Maintain strong code quality, testing, and peer reviews.
  • Support software design, deployment pipelines, and secure coding practices.
  • Apply modern development principles (e.g. design patterns, CI/CD, agile).
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in performance, functionality, or security.
  • Respond quickly to production issues and provide agreed support.

About You

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Cloud certifications (Azure preferred) are a plus.
  • Full-stack engineering experience (C#, JavaScript, Angular preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on scalable, reliable systems.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator in agile/SCRUM teams.
  • Experience delivering complex software projects.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance best practices.
  • Thrives in fast-paced, changing environments.
  • High integrity and accountability.
  • Practical, innovative thinker who embraces ambiguity.
  • Skilled at tailoring communication for different audiences.

Ways of working

Youi offers a hybrid model: in-office Tuesday to Thursday, remote Mondays and Fridays.

Sippy Downs & Fortitude Valley:

This role can be based at either our Headquarters in Sippy Downs or our Fortitude Valley office.
