Senior Engineer

Purpose of the role

Youi is a tech-driven insurer on a strategic cloud modernisation journey. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll deliver secure, scalable solutions that enhance customer experience and operational efficiency. In a fusion team, you'll combine pragmatic delivery with engineering rigor to uplift quality, shorten lead times, and evolve the platforms and practices driving Youi's strategic goals.

Key priorities

• Collaborate with product, architecture, and domain teams to deliver scalable, business-aligned solutions
• Build secure, observable, high-performance software that improves customer and operational outcomes
• Work across the full stack (C#, .NET, TypeScript/JavaScript, Angular, Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform)
• Modernise and evolve core platforms and services toward future-state architecture
• Embed quality through automation in testing, security, and builds
• Strengthen resilience with pragmatic, cost-efficient architectural decisions
• Improve pipelines to reduce lead time and boost deployment confidence
• Apply best-practice engineering in design patterns, APIs, telemetry, and security
• Proactively address performance, reliability, and security risks
• Support production with fast incident response, resolution, and prevention

About You
Experience & Knowledge:

• Degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience
• Proven full stack engineering with C#/.NET and modern JavaScript/TypeScript (Angular preferred)
• Strong systems design and architecture skills (scalability, resilience, performance, cost optimisation)
• Hands-on Azure cloud expertise (Compute, Networking, Storage, Identity, Messaging); certification a plus
• Skilled in containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (AKS or similar)
• CI/CD and DevOps mindset with infrastructure as code, automated testing, and security integration
• Applied security-by-design and compliance best practices (identity, secrets, encryption, least privilege)
• Experience delivering complex, distributed systems end-to-end
• Effective collaborator in Agile environments; able to lead discussions and influence direction
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and ownership in fast-paced, evolving contexts

Ways of working
Youi offers a hybrid model: in-office Tuesday to Thursday, remote Mondays and Fridays.

Sippy Downs & Fortitude Valley:
This role can be based at either our Headquarters in Sippy Downs or our Fortitude Valley office.

Sippy Downs:
