The AEMO System Design division is responsible for planning the power system amid high transformation, including the rapid transition to renewable energy and electrification. The Onboarding and Connections Group manages AEMO's end-to-end process for connecting and registering generators into the National Electricity Market.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Lead the commissioning of various renewable projects through to full output operation, working closely with TNSPs, DNSPs across the NEM.
  • Carry out R2 model validation and drive the R2 close out.
  • Proactively strengthen AEMO's technical collaboration with clients by ensuring that project issues are constructively resolved with tangible outcomes.
  • Provide expert technical advice and decision making in areas including performance standard assessment, power system stability, system strength remediation, registration and commissioning.
  • Support regulatory changes to facilitate integration of large-scale renewable energy projects into the Australian electricity market.
  • Develop a coordinated vision and framework for integrating generation and storage technologies into the NEM.
What You Will Bring To The Role
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or other power systems discipline.
  • Experience in commissioning of renewable projects including T&D projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in R2 compliance and R2 model validation.
  • Experience owning and delivering small-medium projects with a service-oriented, outcome-focused, pragmatic approach.
  • Proficient in overseeing generator commissioning and diagnosing and addressing performance challenges in generators and power systems.
