The Role

We're seeking to engage an experienced Senior Project Manager for our Power & Energy Team. The role is primarily responsible for the success of complex, high-priority projects, sourcing, developing, and maintaining relationships with clients, and providing effective management and guidance to employees and project teams. You'll also manage the negotiation of commercial and financial outcomes to deliver large-scale projects from concept to final implementation, covering quality, time, cost, and client relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Providing input into business development proposals and assisting in winning work through negotiation of commercial and legal conditions.
  • Developing repeat business within and across areas of responsibility through successful delivery of projects and cross-functional solutions.
  • Monitoring client relationship health and engaging appropriate stakeholders.
  • Identifying and building relationships with target clients and delivering creative solutions to meet client needs.
  • Managing and directing Project Managers and Engineers with systems, processes and resources.
  • Making recommendations for team activities as required under the delegation instrument.
  • Effectively managing project personnel to achieve quality deliverables on time.
  • Strengthening the team's capability through recruitment, retention and development activities.
  • Leading the team to ensure training, skills, workflow and procedures support business deliverables in line with the Strategic Business Plan.
Qualifications
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Project Management.
  • Demonstrated success in managing and directing major projects to budget and client specifications; extensive project management and consulting skills.
  • Ability to achieve budget, timeframe and client requirements, with high-level communication skills to guide complex project design and represent SMEC.
  • Knowledge of relevant design codes, Local Regulatory Authority Guidelines and Australian Standards.
  • Ability to identify appropriate resourcing for projects and requirements for skills development within the team.
