As part of this commitment, reporting to the General Manager, come and join the other Senior Leaders and Business Partners to align operational activities with the operation's strategic goals. The main responsibility is providing strategic, operational leadership and management to meet the short-, medium- and long-term goals, objectives, and targets for the operationalization of the Golden Highway area tenements taking the project from Feasibility Study to Mining Operations. This activity will be achieved with the objective of securing sustainable growth, profit and a positive return for all stakeholders.

This is a site-based role and is offered on 4 days on, 3 days off, or ask about our flexible working arrangements.

About the role:

• Review proposed mining methods, equipment purchases, equipment usage, and allocation, and realistically and accurately assess costs of capital and operations to report to the General Manager.
• Strengthen and foster a dynamic environment to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Golden Highway project delivery by collaborating with internal resources and external consultants to leverage expertise and insights.
• Oversee cost effectiveness of contractors and business partners by actively seeking financial improvements and allocation of resources (equipment, people etc)
• Achieve the long-term sustainability of the operations by actively seeking, investigating and assessing growth opportunities that complement and add value to the operations, overseeing the research, review and implementation of systems that support the operations to deliver on goals and objectives and communicating them to the General Manager.
• Provide clarity, guidance and consistency to the Golden Highway Project by setting clear and achievable objectives within the specific budget parameters.
• Facilitate negotiations with corporate contracts team.

Who Are We Looking For?

• An autonomous, driven, and safety conscious individual who is willing to share knowledge with others.
• Extensive proven senior leadership experience in open-pit mining, with a strong background in project management and contractor management
• Recognised tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field.
• Possess a valid Western Australian 1st Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency or Quarry Managers Certificate
• Proven experience in strategic management experience in an operational setting with a strong working knowledge of geological, metallurgical and mining processing methods and equipment
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information in an accessible manner.

In the more than 20 years since Gold Fields' acquired St Ives and Agnew gold mines, our industry presence has expanded exponentially.

This was further bolstered by the acquisition of the Granny Smith and Lawler's gold mines from Barrick Gold in October 2013.

In November 2016, Gold Fields formed a 50 per cent joint venture agreement with Gold Road for the Gruyere deposit, which is mined as an open pit, with production commencing in 2019.
