The Role

This role is for a teacher to deliver our Year 10 Vocational Education and Training (VET) class and Careers education programs. Developing and implementing current and contextually relevant careers education for students. Applicants need to be culturally responsive and have the capacity to work as part of a team, design and implement effective curriculum and assessment utilising current research-based teaching and learning strategies, skills and behaviour management strategies.

To be successful for this role, you will ideally be student and relationship focused, highly motivated, innovative and able to work effectively in a team environment, as well as displaying an engaging and energetic teaching style. You should reflect and assess the effectiveness of your teaching practice using a variety of methods available within the school, promote an environment of active and positive learning, providing educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. Knowledge and practice in Classroom Management Strategies, PBS and an understanding of trauma informed teaching are also key to working effectively in our context. With effective interpersonal skills, you will ideally work closely with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Broome Senior High School in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $2 108 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.

  • apply for a WA Working with Children Check before you start; and
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
