The Role
The successful applicant will ideally show the professional knowledge, practices and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school English curriculum from years 7 to 12. This includes some experience and or knowledge of Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) and General level in English and/or English an Additional Language or dialect (EALD) curriculums. An understanding and experience in the teaching of literacy skills is highly advantageous. As part of this role, you will engage and build productive working relationships with students and be involved collaboratively with your colleagues to improve student results.
Working with the HOLA of English and the English team, the successful applicant should have the ability to work collaboratively to plan and implement effective teaching and learning plans. Applicants will ideally provide excellence in creating and maintaining supportive and safe learning environments and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. The successful applicant will ideally understand and use culturally responsive practices and pedagogies. They will work with families, community the Follow the Dream Program and STARS and Clontarf Foundations to support ongoing student success.
With effective interpersonal skills, the successful applicant will work closely with students, colleagues and the school community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students. Ideally, you will challenge and confront complex and conventional practices to provide successful outcomes for students and continually reflect on their own practices to enhance performance. An understanding and use of trauma informed practices is also encouraged. The ability to adapt and utilise technology within the English learning area would be highly regarded.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and southwest teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a Southwest Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role or transfer permanently into this school.

- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
