Job Description
HammondCare pastoral care volunteers have an opportunity to support the spiritual and emotional needs of elderly people living in their home. As a pastoral care volunteer, you'll be actively involved with a local Christian church in the Newcastle and wider Hunter area.
Roles across Newcastle and Hunter region: Belmont, Boolaroo, Cardiff, Hamilton, Mayfield, Wallsend, Warners Bay and surrounding areas.
You'll supplement and complement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their direction you may:
1. Support people to meet their spiritual needs.
Skills required for this role:
- High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.
- Pastoral Care training, for example, Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or you could attend HammondCare pastoral care training - Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.
We are an independent charity specialising in dementia. We're passionate about improving the quality of life for people in need and we have a wonderful group of volunteers that make a difference in the lives of our residents. We'll provide training, as well as specific pastoral care training, Spiritual Care Series, along with ongoing support and invitations to social events.

• National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare

We'd be happy to discuss a suitable time during the week for a one-hour visit between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday. Visits could be weekly to fortnightly depending on your availability.
