Warrigal Road State School is a community of learners seeking an experienced and motivated Head of Special Education Services to lead and inspire our inclusive learning environment.
About the RoleThis key leadership position will oversee the delivery of high-quality advice and support for students with disabilities, coordinating programs such as the Special Education Program (SEP) and/or Early Childhood Development Program (ECDP).
Key Responsibilities- Manage and Coordinate Support: Oversee the delivery of high-quality advice and support provided by the SEP and/or ECDP.
- Leadership and Management: Lead and manage the SEP and/or ECDP to provide essential advice to classroom teachers for students with disabilities.
- High-Quality Advice: Offer expert advice to school leaders, classroom teachers, and other staff to develop, plan, and implement effective reasonable adjustments for students with disabilities.
- Targeted Teaching: Coordinate and provide intensive, targeted teaching for students requiring additional intervention.
- Case Management: Support and/or coordinate case management for students who require extensive or substantial adjustments.
- Access to Specialist Services: Support classroom teachers and other staff to access departmental or external specialist services, professional development, and necessary supports.
- School Decision-Making: Participate in school decision-making processes and contribute to the school's goals, vision, and planning.
- Data Systems Management: Implement and coordinate systems to monitor students with disabilities and record Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disabilities (NCCD).
- Community Partnerships: Establish partnerships with parents, government agencies, and community groups to support students with disabilities.
- Resource Management: Manage resources to achieve the school's goals.
