The City of Wanneroo is seeking an experienced data governance leadto drive the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of our Data Management Framework and Governance initiatives.

Reporting to the Principal Specialist Corporate Data, this role has significant corporate impact – influencing strategy, systems, and culture across the City. You will provide leadership and expert advice to ensure the City's data management practices are robust, future-focused, and aligned with governance, compliance, and security requirements.

About the Role

This position plays a critical role in:

  • Developing and embedding data governance and information management strategies.
  • Leading cultural and operational change to uplift organisational data capability.
  • Driving service delivery improvements through meaningful, accurate, and accessible data.
  • Collaborating with senior leaders and stakeholders to align data governance with the City's strategic objectives.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024 and the Australian Government Essential Eight Framework.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A degree in data science, information management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Significant experience leading data governance or information management within a large, complex organisation.
  • Advanced knowledge of data management, analysis, integration, and security practices.
  • Strong business acumen, with experience driving efficiencies and delivering measurable service improvements.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • A proven record of leading cultural change, building high-performance teams, and creating sustainable organisational impact.
