Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Officer to join our Threatened Species Operations Unit. In this role, you will design and lead projects aimed at improving our understanding of the impacts of key threats (pests) on threatened species. You will play a pivotal role in implementing effective conservation and recovery strategies across the Central Queensland region.

Responsibilities
  • Design and lead projects to understand and mitigate the impacts of pests on threatened species.
  • Implement conservation and recovery strategies across the Central Queensland region.
  • Work in partnership with QPWS Rangers, the State Technical Services Pest Management team, and other land managers to deliver high-impact conservation outcomes.
  • Apply knowledge of pest and threatened species ecology to land and wildlife management challenges.
  • Lead project planning, implementation, and evaluation; demonstrate strong leadership and contribute to a respectful, inclusive workplace culture.
Collaboration

Collaboration is central to success in this role. You will engage with a broad range of stakeholders, including regional partners and First Nations communities. Your ability to build strong, respectful relationships and communicate effectively will be essential in achieving long-term conservation goals.
