Location: Victoria, Australia

Employment Type: Permanent Full Time

Description:

  • Stakeholder Engagement > Portfolio Management > Capital Analysis

  • Highly collaborative role governing capital investments

When you choose AusNet, you'll join genuine people working together, making Real Progress.

Help us lead the way, while enriching your career with real people who encourage you to bring your best and make a real impact – for your career, our communities, and Australia's cleaner energy future.

In this key role in our Capital Governance and Performance team, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the Portfolio Governance Framework and continuous improvement initiatives.

You will govern capital investments, ensuring alignment with the Portfolio Governance Framework. Accountabilities will include portfolio management, facilitating approvals, overseeing variations, monitoring project performance and maintaining governance across all Ausnet LoBs.

Utilising strong internal and external stakeholder relationships, you will implement investment and governance strategies and influence enterprise decisions regarding capital investment.

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Act as the primary point of contact between the governance team and LoB leaders. Facilitate communication and collaboration to ensure alignment with governance frameworks and strategic objectives.
  • Preparation and review of investment cases to ensure they meet governance requirements, whilst monitoring the performance of approved investments.
  • Oversee and manage a portfolio of capital investments, ensuring alignment with the overall investment strategy and objectives.
  • Facilitate the investment approval process, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to secure necessary approvals and funding.
  • Track and report on the performance of various projects and initiatives within the portfolio. Identify and escalate any deviations, risks, or opportunities to the Manager of Capital Governance & Performance.
  • Help drive the adoption of a consistent value framework for investment prioritisation across the portfolio.
  • Ensure robust capital governance by overseeing the allocation, utilization, and monitoring of capital investments, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide continuous oversight and governance of investment projects, ensuring they remain aligned with strategic objectives and comply with governance frameworks.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with capital investments, including regulatory, market, and operational risks.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on portfolio performance, project status, and strategic initiatives to C-level executives and the board of directors.

You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering or another related field.
  • Significant practical project management experience, preferably in a similar environment (group level PMO) and similar industry (energy, utilities and/or major infrastructure projects).
  • Proven experience in portfolio planning & prioritisation, investment analysis, or facilitative governance roles.
  • In-depth understanding of program and project management principles, likely gained from a combination of practical experience in delivering capital projects and relevant project management qualification (e.g., PMBOK, Prince2).
  • Natural inclination for capital analysis and modelling. Proven track record of supporting investment portfolios and capital projects successfully.
  • A solid understanding of portfolio governance frameworks and a track record of working with various stakeholders (including project initiators, project managers, Finance teams) to implement process changes.
  • Exposure to project accounting, forecasting, and budgeting concepts.
  • Ability to identify root causes of process inefficiencies and make necessary process improvements with minimal direction.
  • Skilled in building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders to influence drive alignment of program management requirements.
  • Proficiency in financial modelling, investment analysis software, and portfolio management tools.

A real place to belong.

We celebrate unique voices, refreshing perspectives and diversity in our team. Engage and connect through our social club, family day, wide range of events or by joining one of our Employee Network Groups.

We believe in more than just competitive pay. Here's what sets us apart:

  • Leave: more than typical personal leave and a generous 14 weeks of paid parental leave, with no minimum service.
