Overview

We're seeking an experienced Data Engineer to support the operational data environment of a federal government agency. This role will focus on ensuring data assets and delivery pipelines are reliable, secure, and meet defined SLAs across a modern cloud data platform as well as legacy systems. You'll play a key role in BAU support, month-end processing, and responding to operational data requests while also driving improvements in processes, coding standards, and documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Support and maintain data assets across AWS Cloud Data Lake, Cloud EDW, Legacy EDW (Teradata) and SAS analytics platforms
  • Provide Level 2/3 technical support across AWS, Control-M, Snowflake, Teradata, and ETL tool-based integration solutions
  • Manage daily data delivery processes, month-end cycles, and ad-hoc data requests
  • Build, maintain, and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines and SQL analytical code
  • Apply DevOps principles, version control, and CI/CD processes in delivery
  • Use scheduling and file transfer tools (Control-M, GoAnywhere, or similar)
  • Collaborate with data consumers, testers, and IT support teams to deliver operational outcomes
  • Drive continuous improvement, provide knowledge sharing and training where appropriate
Essential Criteria
  • Proficiency in AWS services related to data engineering (Glue, S3, Lambda, EC2, RDS)
  • Strong experience in data pipeline design and development using ETL/ELT frameworks
  • Proficiency in Snowflake (Cloud EDW) and Teradata (On-Prem EDW)
  • Programming expertise in Python (preferred) and supplementary languages
  • Experience with Control-M orchestration/monitoring or similar scheduling tools
  • Strong background in operational support processes within BAU environments
Other Requirements
  • Australian Citizenship is mandatory (evidence required prior to engagement)
  • Baseline or Security Clearance is an added plus but not essential
