Job Description

About The Role

As the Supervisor of Natural Areas, you will manage, lead, and supervise staff delivering diverse projects and programs related to natural areas management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage staff and resources to plan, prioritize, and implement environmental projects, ensuring alignment with Council strategies and legislation.
  • Build relationships with internal teams, external partners, and the community to support project delivery, funding, and environmental education.
  • Oversee external engagements, project scoping, budgeting, reporting, and contract documentation using Council's Project Management Framework.
  • Provide specialist advice on biodiversity, sustainability, contaminated land, waterways, and contribute to strategic planning and initiatives.
  • Lead continuous improvement through technical innovation.

About You

We seek a leader with:

  • Recognized Degree in Environmental Management, Park Management, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
  • Class C Driver's license.
  • At least 10 years of demonstrated experience in Natural Areas Management or similar.
  • Experience managing capital projects.
  • Strong understanding of natural area management principles and relevant legislation.
  • Skills in negotiation, advocacy, report writing, and people management.
  • Experience in policy development, budgeting, project oversight, and organizational planning.
  • Ability to resolve complex issues, manage priorities, and handle sensitive matters with sound judgment.

What's On Offer

Remuneration from $146,512 to $161,317 plus 12% superannuation, with benefits including free onsite parking, flexible work arrangements, parental leave, long service leave, leave benefits, learning opportunities, and health programs.

Participation in Council's Motor Vehicle Scheme will be discussed with the successful applicant.
