About the Role
This role is supported by the Victorian Government and is responsible for strategically planning and implementing a whole of council approach towards gender equality and primary prevention initiatives. The position reports to the Manager People & Safety and works closely with key internal and external stakeholders across Council to embed a gender lens and intersectional approach across all areas of service delivery. The focus of the position is to:
- drive gender equity and inclusion strategies, programs and practices that promote the development of a diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce
- promote positive attitudes, behaviour and culture change at HRCC and within community programs and services to prevent family violence and all forms of violence against women
- increase internal and community awareness and understanding of the drivers of family violence and all forms of violence against women, including prevention strategies
- implement and test family violence prevention tools and guides and embed a whole-of-council approach to preventing family violence and all forms of violence against women.
This role will also play a critical part in overseeing the Municipal Health & Wellbeing Plan.
About You

This position will establish processes, policy and initiatives to drive strategic priorities related to these areas. You will be resilient, courageous and a skilled communicator who actively listens to others, responds with understanding and respect in order to influence and educate a range of stakeholders to achieve organisational outcomes.
Your ability to build trusting relationships and embracing a wide range of styles and voices has been instrumental in your previous success of leading change. You are self-managed and comfortable in working to build, implement and assess the effectiveness of new ideas and concepts. You take personal accountability for role-modelling inclusive behaviour, showing respect for diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. You will also care deeply about improving gender equity and eliminating violence against women within our community.
If you have:
- Qualifications and/or demonstrated work experience in social science, health promotion, community development or human resource management
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating health and wellbeing projects
- Experience in developing and implementing diversity, equity and inclusion programs
- Understanding of and successful working relationships with the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and communities and partner organisations.
