We're partnering exclusively with a fast-growing health technology company that's transforming how families stay connected and safe. Their IoT wearables and mobile platforms are already live across Australia, EU, and US markets, serving thousands of families daily.

Now scaling from hardware-led to a software-first SaaS model, they're at an inflection point where security becomes mission-critical. With 35 passionate people today and aggressive growth plans, they need a security leader who can protect what matters most: the trust their customers place in their products and their data.

This is a newly created role reporting directly to the CTO, with clear executive backing and the budget to build a team as they scale.

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to step into a greenfield role:

• Immediate Impact: You'll be the sole security authority initially, with direct influence on architecture, compliance, and culture
• Global Reach: Protect platforms serving customers across three continents, with expansion into new markets planned
• Modern Stack: AWS cloud-native architecture, serverless functions, mobile apps, and consumer IoT devices
• Strategic Visibility: Regular CTO and board interaction, shaping security strategy for a growing public company
• Team Building: Hire and develop 2-3 security professionals over the next 18 months as the company scales
• Meaningful Work: Every security decision directly impacts family safety and health outcomes

Location: Sydney office Hybrid arrangement

Package: $180K-220K + potential ESOP/LTI

What you'll be doing

• Own the security mandate across both corporate IT and product ecosystems (IoT, mobile apps, APIs, wearables).
• Lead GRC efforts (SOC2 is the immediate priority, GDPR, global frameworks).
• Influence AWS security design for serverless applications and CI/CD pipelines.
• Advise the leadership team on evolving threats and the right security posture for scale.
• Drive awareness and embed a security-by-design culture across engineering and product teams.
• Manage third party providers and security vendors.

What we're looking for

We're looking for a jack of all trades in security, someone equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves technically and operating at a governance and advisory level across both corporate and product security. Some key attributes will be:

• Strong GRC (experience with global frameworks highly regarded) knowledge with proven technical ability across the end-to-end security lifecycle.
• Experience with cloud-first security (AWS preferred) and modern engineering practices.
• Understanding of application, API, mobile, and IoT security.
• Ability to balance hands-on technical execution with executive-level advisory.
• Strong communicator who can influence across engineers, leaders, and external partners.
• You thrive in scale-ups environments, you're adaptable and flexible.

Technical Bonus Points:

• DevSecOps and CI/CD security integration
• Health tech or regulated industry background
• Consumer product security and privacy-by-design principles
• Incident response and forensics capabilities
