As the Workplace Based Assessment (WBA) Program Clinical Lead you will provide overall clinical expert advice and manage the SJGMPPH WBA program in collaboration with the Director Postgraduate Medical Education.
You will liaise with medical administration and the relevant Heads of Departments to manage the candidate assessments and address any significant barriers or concerns, taking into account both professional and personal circumstances. You will build a good reporting relationship with Australian Medical Council (AMC) taking responsibility for financial costs and performance rates.

The Position- Coordinate and promote the Hospital's WBA Program.
- Actively participate in educational programs and willingly implement further educational reforms consistent with the strategies approved by the Hospital's Prevocational Training Committee.
- Role model effective teaching strategies and support other clinicians to develop effective teaching skills so that the best use is made of educational opportunities in the delivery of day-to-day services.
- Collaborate with clinical term supervisors to optimise appropriate educational experience and training for JMOs.
- Ensure that clinical term supervisors are aware of their educational and training responsibilities for JMOs on WBA in their units.
- Actively participate as a member of the Prevocational Training Committee.
- Help ensure delivery of effective education and training of JMOs.
- Develop, lead, and manage the delivery of an accredited WBA Program at SJGMPPH.
- Ensure the program delivers in all domains for candidates to have the best chance at successfully completing the program.
- Ensure the WBA program meets and maintains AMC Accreditation Standards for WBA programs.
- Chair relevant review committees in line with standard requirements, and review candidate reports before submission to AMC.
- Provide educational expertise in the development, management, and continuous improvement of the assessment process, including reviewing and evaluating the assessment domains including Mini Clinical evaluation exercise (mini-CEX), Case-based discussion (CBD) and Multi-source feedback (MSF).
- Develop and implement Performance Improvement processes for candidates at risk of failure, address concerns raised by candidates/assessors and execute assessment blueprinting for candidates.
- Undertake the recruitment and management of the pool of internal assessors, including conducting calibration sessions for all the supervisors across and assessor role guidance.
- Monitor financial and candidate performance outcomes.
- In partnership with the WBA MEO and relevant committees, manage nominations of candidates for the WBA, ensuring the candidates receive appropriate orientation and are allocated primary supervisors to monitor progress.
- This role reports operationally to the Director Postgraduate Medical Education and professionally to the Director of Medical Services.
- Regularly meet with individual WBA candidates to assess their general progress, including feedback about their performance.
- Provide appropriate leadership, mentoring and role modelling for WBA candidates and act as their advocate in relation to accessing quality education and training experiences.
- Identify and recognise the needs of International Medical Graduates, especially those from non-English speaking backgrounds and facilitate educational and support activities for these doctors in their pre-vocational years.
- Attend relevant state-wide WBA meetings and support initiatives generated through such meetings and conferences.
RequirementsYou will be a registered Medical Practitioner with AHPRA and hold a Fellowship of an AMC approved Specialist College. You will have a proven high level of leadership and human resource management skills applicable to coordinating the activities of a clinical program and an excellent working knowledge of current accreditation requirements applicable to JMOs.
Previous experience with a WBA program will be highly regarded along with experience in the implantation of adults learning principles.
