This is a new position at the Boarding Campus. The person will work closely with the Business Manager and be responsible for providing support with all aspects of the Boarding Campus from cleaners, infrastructure, current and future projects as well as the assets and liaison with businesses, external contractors and key stakeholders in Q Build. This is a progressional position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.

Spinifex State College is a state school with three campuses located in Mount Isa. The Boarding Campus is a Department of Education operated boarding facility situated in its own grounds and provides a culturally safe, home away from home for students who come from communities and towns all over Northwest Queensland. Spinifex Boarding Campus operates 24/7 during school terms. With a vision to cultivate clever, skilled and creative graduates, we deliver a vibrant mix of academic, vocational and arts learning opportunities tailored to each learner's strengths.
Step Into Your Next Chapter
- Responsible for a range of day to day activities that may include delivering and collecting mail, parcels and documents;distributing Boarding supplies and stocks; maintaining various registers; and stocktaking and recording/engraving of Boarding equipment/furniture and assets.
- Assist with a range of duties that include clearing and hosing of drains and gutters; assist with requirements for significant events such as Open Days or Transition Days.
- Support with a variety of security duties at the Boarding Campus that involve using and maintaining the security systems; and locking and unlocking buildings (within core hours).
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements including maintenance of a safe work environment; bring to appropriate attention any safety hazards; manage equipment records; and maintain tools and equipment for repair services (as per manufacturer's service manual).
- Attend to/or arrange repairs and maintenance within the school, including those which relate to furniture and equipment; locks and windows and school facilities.
- Provide basic maintenance of equipment
- Communicate and discuss with Principal/Business Manager or nominated delegate on matters regarding periodic maintenance of facilities.
- Liaise with various internal and external personnel (e.g. tradespersons) and students on issues of lost property and damage to facilities.
