Project Overview

The Ar Rjum Project comprises a green field gold project with three open pit mining operations with associated waste dumps and ore stockpile, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure including water supply, power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, temporary and permanent accommodation village.

The Project is situated within the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh and about 26 km South of Al Mouwayh, which is a small town situated on the Jeddah – Riyadh highway.

Job Summary

In this role, you will collaborate to plan, develop, coordinate, and review project civil / structural design work. You will work in a 3D modelling environment, produce drawings, facilitate discussions, communicate complex technical issues, and prepare civil / structural design estimates and work plans. Your recommendations will ensure designs and work plans are in accordance with project scope, schedule, budget, regulations, and standards.

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.

Major Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, coordinates, and reviews design work within a small civil/structural design group on medium-sized projects or assignments in support of the global business unit.
• Produces 3D models, drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope, including design of concrete structures, foundations, and steel detailing.
• Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of civil/structural engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters.
• Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management.
• Prepares or oversees the preparation of civil/structural design estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly.
• Supports development of Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), Bechtel design guides, Bechtel Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs) and administrative practices.
• Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of work.
• Reviews key civil/structural engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries.
• Mentors civil/structural designers and drafters by providing on-the-job training for their professional development.
• Ensures civil/structural systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.

Education And Experience Requirements

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10 - 13 years of relevant experience OR
• 14 - 17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge And Skills

• Design of a wide range of industrial structures including buildings (covered, opened), material handling structures, equipment supporting structures, building and equipment foundations, retaining walls, etc.
• Design and modelling of concrete and structural steel in 3D environment (e.g. Tekla, Smart3D).
• Assisting in preparation of discipline material take-offs.
• Work in 2D environment while preparing drawings (e.g. Microstation).
• Leading a small structural design team.
• Interaction with broader project team including interfaces with other disciplines.
