A career in the forensic mental health sector is diverse, challenging, and rewarding. A career at Forensicare will be like no other. If you're passionate about supporting people in their mental health recovery, Forensicare is where you need to be. You will be part of a caring and supportive team, making a real difference to people living with the dual stigma of mental illness and offending. We approach our work with curiosity and a commitment to understanding the unique needs of our consumers and carers. Working in our newly established community operations within the Hume region, you can apply your specialist skills and advance your learning and career development. Together, we can contribute to a more connected, compassionate mental health and criminal justice system.

Expansion to Regional and Rural Victoria

Join the Community Forensic Mental Health Service (CFMHS) team as we expand our services across Regional and Rural Victoria, establishing a site in Bendigo to support the Loddon Mallee region. CFMHS is a specialist state-wide agency that works with individuals who have a serious mental health illness and have offended or are at risk of offending.

This newly created position provides an exciting opportunity to be part of a new service, reflective of the expanding growth of Forensicare. These roles will embed Forensicare's model of care in practice within the Loddon Mallee region, which will include assessing and managing violence risk, working collaboratively in a recovery-oriented framework, and proactively developing and maintaining close professional relationships with the relevant AMHWS.

About the Role:

  • The Manager, in conjunction with the team, will support the establishment of the regional site and operations.

Working in vibrant regional Victoria, you will apply your specialist skills and advance your learning and career development. You will be involved in the establishment, evaluation, and further development of an important new service expansion. Together with other team members, you will contribute to a more connected, compassionate mental health and criminal justice system.

Duties:

  • Provide high-level management, clinical, and forensic expertise to the regional and rural team.
  • Coordinate the implementation and operation of the regional team in conjunction with the Consultant Psychiatrist.
  • Oversee the ongoing development and implementation of the service model for regional forensic mental health services.
  • Coordinate the delivery of the regional team's interventions and reports.
  • Provide high-level advice to the Executive Director of Community Operations and Director of Clinical Services on emerging issues likely to impact the regional team.
  • Contribute at a senior level to strategic planning and service development activities.

About You:

  • Demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer recovery and incorporating consumer perspectives into service delivery.
  • Possession of a relevant tertiary qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate Board or Association as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist, Social Worker, or Occupational Therapist.
  • Demonstrated minimum 10-year post-registration mental health experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate a multi-disciplinary team and lead complex programs effectively and efficiently.
  • Extensive experience in undertaking comprehensive psychosocial and risk assessments, and in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical mental health interventions.
  • Highly developed and effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to consult, liaise, facilitate, and negotiate with key stakeholders, mental health professionals, clients, and carers.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, mental health, and criminal justice systems.

This position will initially have a hybrid working arrangement between Paul Mullen Centre – Clifton Hill and home pending establishment of site post July 2025.

  • Regional Financial Relocation Incentive support provided via RWAV, subject to eligibility.
  • Excellent supervision and investment in the skill development of all our team members.
  • Well-defined career pathways existing across our Directorates with multidisciplinary Teams.
  • Salary Packaging Options available – Mortgage, Rent, Car, Expenses.
  • A leading, multi-faceted approach to safety, with unparalleled strategic, practical, individualised, and team-based supports to minimise risks and fear and maximise safety and security, underpinned by our workplace health and safety strategy.
