Workplace Health and Safety & Compliance Officer

Location: Hemmant, Brisbane | Full-time

As our national footprint continues to expand, we're on the lookout for a passionate, proactive and well-organised Workplace Health and Safety & Compliance Officer to join our dynamic team at our Hemmant head office.

Key Responsibilities:

- Drive WHS & Compliance Standards

Ensure all WHS policies meet local, state, and federal regulations — and review regularly to keep us ahead of the game.

- Maintain and manage WHS systems and documentation for compliance across all operations.

- Lead the national safety committee, flag risks early, and embed a proactive safety-first culture.

- Deliver reporting and insights to national and state operations leaders.

- Investigate incidents and near misses within set KPIs and implement corrective/preventative actions.

Provide weekly and monthly safety reports aligned with WHS KPIs.

- Collaborate with state teams to reduce risk and improve safety performance.

- Advise, support and upskill operational leaders on WHS standards, programs, and practices.

- Ensure accurate and up-to-date training records across all business units.

- Conduct site visits (interstate travel required) for audits, training and support.

- Workers Compensation & Injury Management

- Manage claims and return-to-work processes alongside HR and site leadership.

- Implement strategies to reduce claims and improve injury management outcomes.

- WHS System Management

- Be the go-to expert for our WHS software platform (Safety Culture).

- Ensure all incidents, audits and inspections are reported and actioned within required timeframes.

- Oversee key system modules, including training records, checklists and toolbox talks.

What We're Looking For:

- WHS qualification (or willingness to undertake further training)

- Solid knowledge of WHS legislation, workers compensation, RTW and COR

- Experience using WHS software (Safety Culture preferred)

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Tech-savvy, organised, and solutions-oriented

- Cert IV in Training & Assessment (highly desirable)

- Current Driver's Licence & reliable vehicle
