About the organisation

Warlga Ngurra Women and Children's Refuge is an Aboriginal focused Specialist Homelessness Service that responds to women, with or without accompanying children, who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless due to domestic violence. Their services include emergency accommodation, court support, children's activities, outreach support, advocacy, housing support, child support and referrals.

The team at Warlga Ngurra are passionate about their mission to deliver innovative solutions to address homelessness, violence, and poverty. They are focused on achieving immediate and lasting changes, within a culturally diverse and safe environment.

About the role

As a Targeted Early Intervention (TEI) Caseworker, you will provide intensive wrap-around case management to women and children (aged 0–18) experiencing or at risk of homelessness, domestic and family violence, and other complex issues. This role focuses on delivering practical support, advocacy, and referrals while fostering resilience, safety, and empowerment for families.

You will work collaboratively with clients to develop case plans, provide outreach where required, and engage with key community networks and service providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing case management, advocacy, and referral support to women and children experiencing complex challenges.
  • Developing client-led case plans using trauma-informed and culturally safe approaches.
  • Engaging in outreach service delivery and accompanying clients to appointments as needed.
  • Building strong community and agency networks to support client outcomes.
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to organisational events, workshops, and community programs.
About you

To succeed in this role, you will be an empathetic and experienced practitioner that thrives in supporting women and children in vulnerable situations. This role requires a strong understanding of First Nations peoples, cultures, and society, and the issues which impact them, with a commitment to culturally safe practice.

You will have:

  • Demonstrated case management experience, and desirable to have experience within domestic and family violence/homelessness contexts.
  • Strong knowledge of child protection, trauma, mental health, AOD, and legal issues impacting families.
  • Commitment to strengths-based, feminist, trauma-informed, and culturally safe practice.
  • A tertiary qualification in Community Services, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence, National Police Check, Working With Children Check, and First Aid certificate.

This is an Aboriginal Identified position under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) and is designated for a female under Section 31 of the Act.
