About the role

Our client is an ASX-listed business that has grown substantially and is seeking a highly skilled Head of Risk to join its dynamic team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the organisation maintains a strong and compliant Risk Management Framework. Acting as a second line of defence, the role supports the broader business in identifying, assessing, and managing risks while meeting regulatory obligations and industry expectations. It involves strategic oversight, hands-on execution, and cross-functional collaboration to embed a positive risk culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver end-to-end management of the organisation's Risk Management Framework, including identifying, evaluating, and treating risks, implementing Key Risk Indicators, and developing effective controls and treatment plans;
  • Maintain core risk documentation such as the Risk Management Strategy, Risk Appetite Statements, and Controls Management Process;
  • Monitor performance against KRIs, escalate issues as needed, and manage regular reviews of the framework, including internal and external audits;
  • Lead the design, implementation, and testing of risk controls, working closely with first-line functions to ensure accountability and effectiveness;
  • Prepare and present risk-related reports for governance committees and the board, ensuring timely and accurate insights;
  • Manage all organisational risk registers and oversee the full lifecycle of internal and external audit processes;
  • Oversee the Business Continuity program, including planning, testing, and reporting;
  • Support compliance activities such as breach assessments, incident management, training, and regulatory obligations including AML/CTF, privacy, whistleblowing, and complaints;
  • Act as a subject matter expert in risk, providing strategic advice and support across projects, regulatory affairs, policy development, and licence management; AND
  • Develop and deliver risk training programs to build capability and embed a strong risk culture across the organisation.
Key Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Risk Management, or related fieldPostgraduate or industry certifications highly regarded;
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in risk, compliance or legal functions;
  • Strong understanding of financial services, especially superannuation and managed funds;
  • Proven ability to lead, influence, and engage stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated expertise in risk frameworks and methodologies; AND
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and commercial acumen.
