Service Technician Job Description

This role is responsible for providing service-related assistance to customers and distributors. The successful candidate will be able to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical issues, analyze technical problems, and provide feedback on component failure.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide phone support to customers and distributors.
  2. Attend field breakdowns and repair cranes in a timely manner.
  3. Maintain accurate service reports and submit them promptly upon completion of repair.
  4. Analyze warranty problems and troubleshoot beyond the scope of the distributor or customer.
  5. Train distributors in the commissioning of new products.
  6. Interact with MCG personnel on matters related to service materials, product requirements, availability, and code compliance.
  7. Plan and coordinate activities to investigate and resolve customer reports of technical problems.
  8. Analyze reports of technical problems to determine trends affecting future design, production, service, and maintenance processes.
  9. Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  1. High school diploma with 5+ years of technical service and support experience in the crane industry or heavy equipment industry.
  2. OEM or dealer experience in heavy equipment/Crane background is advantageous.
  3. Specialist training in the crane industry or on Manitowoc Cranes is advantageous.
  4. Trade certificate in Mechanical or Electrical trades with high-level automotive and Canbus electrical diagnostic skills.
  5. Fault finding and diagnostic skills in Electrical, hydraulic, engine, drive-line, braking, and general maintenance and repairs in Heavy equipment or LBCC and Mobile Cranes.
  6. Ability to read and work with electronic and hydraulic schematics.
