About The OpportunityAn exciting opportunity is available for a passionate and experienced Microbiology Scientist to join the NSW Health Pathology Microbiology and Serology Department at Liverpool Hospital. We are seeking a Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist for a permanent full-time position in a state-of-the-art pathology laboratory equipped with automation technologies.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a customer-focused approach, attention to detail, experience in documentation and report writing, organizational and managerial abilities, and leadership skills. Excellent communication and teaching skills are essential. You will be part of a dedicated team delivering high-quality diagnostic services to South Western Sydney Local Health District.

Manage scientific, technical, and support staff, oversee testing activities and logistics, ensure quality, cost-efficiency, compliance, and accreditation, and handle HR and resource management.
Qualifications- Bachelor Degree or higher in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent, relevant to pathology.
- Customer-focused with strong interpersonal, communication, report writing, and data evaluation skills.
- Knowledge of NSW and Australian accreditation standards and quality systems.
- Management experience in laboratory operations, administration, and budgeting.
- Advanced knowledge of Pathology Laboratory Information Systems and Quality Management Systems.
- Extensive knowledge of laboratory operations and equipment maintenance.
- Understanding of legislation, policies, and safety requirements.
