Ventia requires an energetic and experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join their team in the Bowen Basin. Ideally you will be in central QLD locations (e.g., Mackay, Gladstone, Rockhampton, Emerald) to do DIDO but will consider Brisbane and Townsville.

About the Role
Ventia has been engaged to provide Hard and Soft FM services including village maintenance and accommodation to our client in the Bowen Basin. The purpose of this role is to deliver Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) requirements of the program, utilising systems and process to foster an integrated approach to SHEQ management in delivering legal, contractual and business requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implement all SHEQ Management Plans across the project
  • Adhere with legislation, regulations and standards across all activities of the project
  • Implementing processes to ensure communication and compliance with all SHEQ policies and procedures and fostering a culture of "safety and health above all else"
  • Communicate and deliver on the contracts integrated Audit Schedule
  • Ensuring risk assessments and risk registers are maintained; and Ventia's Critical Risk Protocols are embedded in the project through leaders
  • Maintaining legal and chemical registers
  • Ensuring all assigned training within SHEQ capabilities checklists is completed
  • Develop and deliver safety related training (e.g., toolbox talks, prestart meetings, campaigns etc.)
  • Monitor contracts statistical data and report to senior leadership weekly and monthly
  • Support the review process of procedures with designated sites and work groups
  • Undertake safety incident investigations
  • Deliver on employee rehabilitation, including return to work planning engaging as required with Ventia specialists
  • Communicate and advocate the healthy bodies and healthy minds programs and aid site managers to monitor the wellbeing of site personnel

About You
To be successful in this role you must:

  • Demonstrated sound experience in a similar position
  • Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety
  • Formal training in incident investigation
  • Management systems and Lead Auditor Qualifications
  • Cert IV in Food Science or equivalent food safety knowledge
  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment (preferred)
  • Detailed knowledge of SHEQ legislation, regulatory requirements and ISO standards within a utility or infrastructure project environment
  • Ability to develop and execute strategies to ensure compliance and minimise risks
  • Hold a current driver's licence
