About The Role

The Head of Department - Student Engagement, will be responsible for providing leadership and focusing on initiatives that support the educational outcomes of students, encouraging engagement both in the classroom and with their learning. You will provide targeted teaching and learning support for staff through coaching and professional development, specifically in areas such as Reboot (trauma-informed practice), Restorative Conversations, ESCMs, and classroom profiling. In addition, you will play a key role in building productive and supportive relationships with the Year Level Coordinator, the Engagement Team, and Wellbeing staff, working collaboratively to foster an environment that supports student engagement, wellbeing, and academic success.

Your Responsibilities

As the Head of Department - Student Engagement, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Lead schoolwide processes for management of the learner and behaviour (PBL & RISE Cycle-ESCMs, Restorative Practices, Reboot)
• Develop Positive Behaviour for Learning strategies for Tier 1 & 2 and oversee Tier 2-3 support and interventions for students
• Lead and coach Year Level Coordinators to deliver policy aligned and research-based student supports and interventions, to effectively manage their year level
• Support Voice Coordinator to develop a quality Student Leadership program and mentoring / coaching programs
• Lead Pathways (Dakabin SHS's pastoral care program) curriculum development
• Lead strategies of targeted support for disengaged students
• Co-lead the targeted support and intervention/ priority group agenda (plan and deliver SLT/ Faculty talks, staff talks and workshops)
• Monitor and support priority student groups' engagement, identifying barriers, and implementing targeted interventions to enhance participation and outcomes.
