About NBMLHD

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is a leader in public health services for the Nepean, Blue Mountains and Lithgow region. The NBMLHD Drug and Alcohol Service provides free, non-judgemental services and treatments for drug and/or alcohol use with a harm-reduction philosophy.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-level case management as a Registered Nurse within the NBMLHD Drug and Alcohol Service.
  • Administer essential treatments including methadone, buprenorphine, and Buprenorphine/Naloxone in accordance with the NSW Poisons Act (1966).
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to plan, implement, assess, and evaluate nursing care that is safe, effective, and patient-centred.
  • Contribute to care that respects client choice and supports recovery within harm-reduction principles.
What You Will Bring To The Role
  • Current Nursing Registration (Division 1) with AHPRA.
  • Demonstrated experience and clinical skills in Acute Medical / Mental Health Nursing as a Registered Nurse, with interest in Drug and Alcohol.
  • Demonstrated awareness of Drug and Alcohol dependence issues and Opioid Treatment Programs.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team including Medical, Nursing, Allied Health, Community staff, General Practitioners, and external agencies.
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve conflict by managing own emotional responses in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work a flexible roster, day or evening shifts across all days of the week.
  • Current Driver's Licence and willingness to travel for work.
