Overview

You will play a key role in enhancing Uniting's practice and quality excellence in Homelessness and Community Supports services across the North and West Division, ideally based in our Ballarat or Werribee offices. You will provide expert advice on complex cases, escalate risks, and support staff through reflective practice, case reviews, secondary consultations, and training. Your focus will be on innovative programs like Street2Home, Journey to Social Inclusion, and the Zero Project, contributing to impactful outcomes for vulnerable communities. You will actively contribute to the development of evidence-based practices at Uniting, ensuring that interventions are culturally responsive and trauma-informed. Your expertise will drive meaningful change and elevate the quality of service delivery in the division. Your role is integral to the leadership team and reports directly to a divisional Senior Manager. You will have the opportunity to work alongside fellow Principal Practitioners across the region, collaborating on methodologies and service innovations. While the role provides virtual support, regular travel is essential to engage with teams face-to-face across the region.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice on complex cases, escalate risks, and support staff through reflective practice, case reviews, secondary consultations, and training.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based, culturally responsive, trauma-informed practices.
  • Support and develop the workforce in recovery and inclusion; work with leaders to embed therapeutic, culturally safe care across programs.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team and Principal Practitioners across the region to enhance methodologies and service innovations.
  • Travel regularly to engage with teams face-to-face across the region.

Your Skills and Experience
  • Significant experience supporting social inclusion and progression of people experiencing homelessness or social isolation using therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in homelessness program delivery, including early intervention settings, assertive outreach and housing-first therapeutic and trauma-informed methodology.
  • Track record in coaching and developing staff, leading reflective practice, facilitating training, and providing case consultations.
  • Ability to draw meaningful insights from practice data, identify trends, and recommend improvements at individual, team and system levels.
  • Collaborative, solutions-focused approach, working confidently across teams and disciplines to guide high-quality decisions.
  • Strong understanding of homelessness, community support, children and families, family violence and youth service delivery streams.
