For over 40 years, Harbourside has been a trusted, community-driven provider of aged care in Port Stephens. Born from the vision of local volunteers in the late 1970s, our organisation began with a simple goal: to create safe, affordable accommodation for seniors. What started as a community initiative led by Nelson Bay RSL grew into Harbourside Port Stephens — featuring residential care, home care and retirement across Shoal Bay, Fingal Bay and Salamander Bay.

About the Role

As a Grounds Keeper at Harbourside Port Stephens, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the grounds of our Retirement Villages around Shoal Bay, NSW.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining the overall appearance and functionality of the outdoor areas within the Retirement Villages.
• Performing regular inspections to identify and address any issues related to landscaping, gardens, paths, and outdoor recreational areas.
• Implementing and adhering to a comprehensive grounds maintenance schedule, including mowing lawns, pruning trees and shrubs, weeding flower beds, and watering plants as required.
• Operating and maintaining grounds-keeping equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, and hedge cutters.
• Ensuring that all outdoor spaces are safe for residents by promptly addressing any safety hazards or potential risks.
• Collaborating with other departments to support events or activities that involve outdoor spaces within the Retirement Villages.

• Trades qualification and/or significant experience in performing grounds keeping tasks

• Police Check

• Current Drivers Licence

• Relevant Bus Licence (desirable)

• Understanding of the Aged Care Sector, Retirement Living and Independent Living Sector
