About the Opportunity

We are seeking an Education Assistant with relevant experience to join our dynamic team of educators and support staff at Alta-1 College.

About Us

At Alta-1, we recognize that adverse life experiences can impact a student's sense of self-worth, motivation, and capacity for learning, which can make engagement in a mainstream school setting challenging.

As an independent, co-educational CARE (Curriculum and Reengagement in Education) School, Alta-1 is a Christian organization that works with students from years 7-12. We provide wraparound support to guide students on a journey of recovery through a trauma-informed approach. This approach helps students acknowledge, confront, and resolve barriers that have impacted their ability to reach their full potential.

We foster a highly relational environment where students, teachers, and staff develop meaningful connections based on trust, respect, and empathy. These relationships serve as the foundation for effective teaching and learning, enabling us to better understand and support each student's unique needs and aspirations.

Responsibilities

If successful, you will be responsible for delivering the highest quality duty of care for each student, aligned with the values and objectives of Alta-1 College.

You will be a proactive team player, creating warm relationships with teachers and students to foster a harmonious and calming classroom atmosphere. Your attention to detail will enhance record-keeping and contribute to a positive experience for all involved.

As a creative problem solver, you will excel in our dynamic care environment, using your flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse student needs, whether in group settings or one-on-one discussions.

Effective communication will be key, as you will provide clear, respectful conversations, establish understandable expectations, and offer assistance as needed.
