The Role

North Harrisdale PS is seeking motivated Mainstream Education Assistants to join our dynamic team in 2026.

Suitable applicants will ideally support the development and implementation of our vision, values, culture, and strategic direction, as outlined on our website. Of utmost importance are the personal qualities you bring to the role. You will ideally value developing positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and the wider community. You will ideally have a 'can do' attitude and the ability to anticipate and adapt to change; showing initiative, flexibility and creative problem solving to produce the best opportunities for students.

You will ideally have a passion for working with young students and are committed to maximising your impact on student learning. You will ideally have high expectations and truly believe that all children can learn and make superb progress in a supportive and inclusive learning environment. You will ideally embrace evidence-informed strategies established across the school to meet the needs of every student. Experience in developing oral language, synthetic phonics, English and Mathematics intervention approaches will be highly regarded.

We seek enthusiastic team members who show initiative in adapting tasks to meet student needs. You will ideally contribute advice and expertise, collaborating with staff to support student achievement. Under teacher direction, you will assist in the delivery of planned education programs, including the operation of digital technologies; implement individual or small group programs, and provide valuable feedback to support student learning. An ability to work with students in out-of-class activities, during breaks in the school day, and on school excursions is desired.

Suitable applicants will ideally assist with the preparation and organisation of quality learning environments by maintaining equipment, materials and resources, and assisting teachers with the clean and safe use of classroom items. You will ideally be responsible for assisting teachers with the supervision of students for all activities and the general care and wellbeing of students, including attending to minor illnesses and/or injuries.

Eligibility

To work with us, you must:

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
  • obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.

      • Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well-being of students.
