The Role

The role of the Education Assistant - Lead is to lead, mentor, coach, and model good practices for other Education Assistants. You will ideally be an important and valued leader supporting the Manager Corporate Services and our Program Coordinators in leading and managing the Education Assistant workforce. The successful applicant should operate collaboratively and be able to build and maintain effective team-based relationships. The successful applicant will ideally be highly professional, organised and display excellent communication skills, drawing on these attributes when working with staff and the school community.

It is highly desirable that the successful applicant contributes to the design and implementation of documented plans and provides solutions and support to teachers and education assistants, which promote positive student behaviour and improved educational outcomes in the classroom. This includes working with students who present with complex behavioural needs, and supporting staff in implementing strategies that foster engagement and emotional regulation. Ideally, the successful applicant will be able to perform tasks which require discretion in problem solving, decision making, and choosing methods and processes to achieve outcomes. It is highly desirable for the successful applicant to have experience in dealing with students with a range of learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), severe mental health diagnoses, and other complex behavioural presentations.

• A CV of up to three (3) pages outlining your employment history and professional learning summary relevant to this position
  • A three (3) page statement addressing the following selection criteria as outlined in the attached JDF
    • Demonstrated considerable knowledge and understanding of the delivery of education programs and/or behaviour management plans; and ability to identify problems and assist teachers and other Education Assistants in the development of strategies and solutions.
    • Demonstrated well developed oral communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, mentor, coach, induct and train other Education Assistants and professional teams, including providing advice and evaluating education programs.
    • Demonstrated well developed written communication skills, including report writing, and the ability to coordinate, collect and present student data at a whole school community level in a meaningful way.
    • Demonstrated well developed organisational skills, including the ability to coordinate staff rosters and relief to assist in the delivery of effective education programs.
