Overview

We are looking for an IT Technology Services Expert with a strong technical background to support critical projects and administration in the Enterprise Cloud Services Delivery environment. The role is within the Center of Excellence teams comprising Database Administrators responsible for Incident Management, Problem Management, High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Backup & Restore, and other operational tasks. The role supports pilot projects for new technologies as reference for SAP customers.

Within the Customer Services and Delivery (CS&D) board area, the Enterprise Cloud Services (ECS) organization runs SAP's private cloud offering, including isolated private cloud landscapes in SAP datacenters and on IaaS infrastructure from Hyper-Scalers such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform or AWS. Services are delivered globally with a strong international focus and cultural diversity.

Responsibilities
  • Drive continuous improvement to increase operation efficiency, availability, and performance.
  • Perform infrastructure landscape re-architecture and adopt new technologies as part of the ECS program.
  • Collaborate with Center of Excellence DBAs on incident management, problem management, high availability, disaster recovery, backup and restore, and related operational tasks.
  • Contribute to pilot projects for new technologies and act as a reference for SAP customers.
  • Participation in on-call duty and weekend tasks during rotations.
Role Requirements
  • Strong conceptual understanding and knowledge of RDBMS products in the market.
  • 15+ years of experience as a Database Administrator in global operations (primarily SAP HANA and ASE; other databases are welcome).
  • Experience with automation tools, scripting, or related processes.
  • DB installations, upgrades, planning, setup, and implementation.
  • Technical expertise in optimizing and tuning systems; focus on performance optimization.
  • Database concepts on security, backups and recovery strategies, performance tuning, system copies, high availability, disaster recovery, export-import, and replication.
  • Ability to organize and structure day-to-day documentation as needed.
  • Willingness to take on-call duties and weekend tasks as part of a rotation.

Cloud knowledge (public cloud domains such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, and GCP) is desirable but not essential. Professional certification of database platforms and exposure to project management tasks (PMP and ITIL) are a plus.
