The Role

With the expansion of our business, OnSpec is seeking Field Service Technicians Oil & Gas (Downhole Monitoring) to safely and competently support the installation, maintenance and servicing of downhole monitoring sensors and surface data acquisition systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and interpreting drawings, plans and technical diagrams to support correct installation and operation of monitoring equipment.
  • Installing, testing, repairing and maintaining mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment used for downhole and surface monitoring.
  • Performing field-based tests, quality checks, and recording results using specialised software to ensure accurate data acquisition.
  • Carrying out preventive maintenance, cleaning, and commissioning of equipment in the workshop to ensure operational readiness.
  • Executing rig-up and rig-down activities during field operations, ensuring equipment is safely deployed and retrieved.
  • Assisting with estimation of materials and resources required for service jobs.
  • Preparing technical reports and documentation for both internal records and client presentations.
  • This is a hands-on role, based out of Chinchilla, involving workshop servicing and primarily field work across the Surat and other basins.
  • Enjoy a lifestyle roster of 15 days on – 13 days off.
Qualifications and qualities

The ideal candidates will be:

  • Experienced in oilfield field operations and/or instrumentation.
  • Mechanically minded with strong practical problem-solving skills.
  • Able to operate and maintain field equipment and data systems.
  • Strong focus on safety and quality standards.
  • Positive in attitude and able to work within a team.
  • Residing in Queensland.

The successful candidates will have:

  • Driver's Licence (essential)
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry (essential)
  • MR or higher Truck licence (desirable)
  • Forklift licence (desirable)
