About the role

Sawyers Arms Tavern is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead our team. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work within one of Geelong's best hospitality venues and being family run and operated.

What you'll be doing
  • Manage a team of chefs and cooks to deliver consistently high-quality food
  • Design and develop menus with weekly specials, seasonal menus and locally sourced produce
  • Oversee all food preparation, ensuring strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards
  • Analyse food and labour costs to optimise profitability and operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with the restaurant management team to enhance the overall customer experience
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to junior members of the kitchen team
  • Monitor industry trends and implement new cooking techniques and presentations
What we\'re looking for
  • Minimum 3 years\' experience as a Head Chef or equivalent senior culinary role
  • Great communication skills and team first attitude
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff
  • Extensive knowledge of food preparation, presentation, and menu development
  • Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities
  • Passion for using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients
  • Adaptable and able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
