Academic Level B | $113,211 - $133,974 p.a. pro rata
We are seeking a passionate Lecturer in Midwifery - Teaching Specialist (Clinical Practitioner), to contribute to excellence in teaching and learning across a range of midwifery topics. The lecturer will play a key role in developing and delivering high-quality, innovative teaching through lectures, tutorials, clinical placements, and contemporary digital strategies. This includes creating course materials, coordinating placements, and conducting assessments. The role also requires ongoing clinical or community-based practice to maintain current skills and knowledge.
The role will actively contribute to enhancing teaching and learning through scholarship and may also teach across other programs within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences or other university Colleges. Building and strengthening partnerships with external stakeholders to improve teaching, learning, or research outcomes is also a vital aspect of the role. In addition, the incumbent will provide informal leadership by supporting academic staff, coordinating workflows, and ensuring high standards aligned with university policies and practices.
This opportunity is open exclusively to current staff of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, with the successful candidate commencing in January 2026.
About You
You will hold a doctorate in a relevant field or possess equivalent clinical experience and professional standing in Midwifery. You must be registered, or eligible and committed to registering, with AHPRA as a Midwife, and have current, hands-on clinical experience. A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary midwifery education practices is essential.
With excellence in tertiary-level teaching, including in simulation and clinical settings, you also have experience in placement coordination. You'll bring a proven ability to independently design, deliver, and evaluate innovative teaching and learning strategies, as well as student assessments. Reflective practice and a clear understanding of the link between teaching, research, and clinical practice are key.
You have strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with your ability to build effective relationships with students, staff, and industry partners. Experience in curriculum review and engagement in accreditation processes will be highly regarded.
