If you would like to feel a strong connection to your work and you are accountable, committed and open to change, join us in shaping Australia's future.
About The TeamThe National Measurement Institute (NMI) is a large division within the Department of Industry, Science, and Resources (DISR). The NMI supports DISR by being the national authority on measurement. We maintain and regulate Australia's measurement system, develop and maintain national measurement standards, and deliver world-class measurement products and client services. NMI's Legal Metrology Branch (LMB) ensures Australian consumers and industry can rely on trusted measurements for fair trade in goods and services.
The Programs and Governance Section within the LMB provides oversight and is accountable for the delivery of a diverse range of business operational requirements, while providing corporate support to the General Manager, Legal Metrology. It comprises three functionally aligned units: Program Coordination and Monitoring, Program Coordination and Engagement, and Governance.
The opportunityWorking under the direction of the Assistant Managers, Program Coordination and Monitoring, and Program Coordination and Engagement, the Program Coordinators collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to research and analyse compliance trends in the context of the associated Acts and Regulations. They develop program proposals (including risk assessment and mitigation strategies) for endorsement by the Legal Metrology Branch Management Committee. Once endorsed, they develop project plans aimed at improving marketplace regulatory compliance using contemporary intervention strategies, including LMB inspection and audit activities.
The LMB engages in Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with other Commonwealth agencies to provide program-based inspections and audit services. Program Coordinators help manage and support delivery of our services under MoUs, including periodic reviews of terms and conditions, understanding MoU contents, and supporting administrative tasks such as reviewing, amending and producing internal procedures, reporting and invoicing.
In addition to program development, Program Coordinators are accountable for ongoing management, analysis and reporting on multiple LMB National Compliance Programs.
