Role Overview:

We are seeking a proactive and motivated commercial lawyer to support a dynamic and growing legal team. This role offers the opportunity to work across a range of transactional, regulatory and disputes matters in a company that is transforming Australia's energy landscape through wind, solar, battery storage and hydrogen projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support the negotiation, drafting and review of a wide range of commercial agreements, including offtake agreements, power agreements, procurement and supply contracts, and operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts.
  • Review, amend and assess documentation from early stage planning through to construction and operation, including term sheets, proposals, technical specifications, and commercial strategies.
  • Prepare advice across a wide range of legal matters, including legislation interpretation, commercial transactions, tendering, contract law, and regulatory issues.
  • Represent the business in legal proceedings, mediations and dispute resolution processes, working closely with external counsel when required.
  • Advise on ongoing regulatory compliance, including modern slavery, privacy, governance, native title, environmental, corporate and safety law.
  • Conduct in-house education and training programs on legal risk management and legislative changes.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives and business development projects.

Requirements:

  • Admitted as a lawyer in Australia with a current practising certificate.
  • Practising as a commercial or projects lawyer for 7+ years, ideally with exposure to renewables (wind, solar, battery storage, hydrogen).
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and self-motivated.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Thrives in dynamic and evolving environments.
  • Experience in dispute and litigation management is highly desirable.
