Cross River Rail Delivery Authority (CRRDA) offers a unique opportunity to work on one of Australia's largest infrastructure projects, leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.

About The Role

As Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide independent and strategic legal advice to protect the interests of the State and CRRDA during this major project. Reporting to the General Counsel, Delivery, you will collaborate closely with executive stakeholders, Program Delivery, and Commercial Management teams.

Your main focus will be supporting contracts management, risk, dispute resolution, and negotiations, especially for alliance packages. You will also contribute to government briefings, executive communications, and support high-level decision-making.

This is a three-year contract with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide high-quality, solutions-focused legal advice on project delivery and contracts.
  2. Identify and manage legal risks collaboratively with teams, including developing legal and commercial strategies.
  3. Review, interpret, and advise on various legal issues.
  4. Revise contracts, governance documents, and legal correspondence.
  5. Support contract management, alliance works, and project risk management.
  6. Prepare legal input for executive briefings and reports.
  7. Manage external legal services and supervise outside counsel.
  8. Support internal knowledge sharing and provide legal training.
About You
  1. Extensive experience in legal practice related to major project construction, especially infrastructure and transport.
  2. Strong background in managing legal risks and compliance with commercial acumen.
  3. Experience with alliance or collaborative contract models.
  4. Expertise in claims management, construction law, and legal project management.
  5. Excellent written communication skills, including drafting complex contracts and legal documents.
  6. Confident verbal communication and ability to engage with executives, negotiate, and influence.
  7. Ability to manage priorities independently with sound judgment.
  8. Admitted or eligible to be admitted as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland.
